Some of the comments on this list in the past 2 or 3 days,
make me wonder WHY some adults take a ROLE in scouting or Cubs . . .
One quote that I have on a Tee-Shirt from an OA Advisor seminar
reads "Stand beside them - and guide them onward".
I think that says it all. Find a way to help them! Guide them
even assist them. Never just say NO - or you failed! I would
like to smack these people that try to make the scouts or cubs
measure up to "THIER" individual idea of what the requirements
may be - and perhaps never tell the youth the parents what those
expectations may be.
If you are NOT in the program to HELP these kids - then please
step aside - and allow those in, that want to help the kids!
When I worked in customer service - our first question was
"How can I help you?" I think some of us need to step back and
ask - HOW can I help these kids? Just telling them what they
DID wrong - or what they did NOT complete - IS NOT the help
that they need. They need some one to SHOW them how to
succeed - and NOT to force them to fail.
