sorry - I can't buy off on this - the Scout shorts not only are useful on
campouts but they are also far from uncomfortable.
I wear them all the time from approx Feb to Nov outdoors and all the time
during the summer; moreover, I normally attend National level events whre we
are almost always in uniform the entire day.
the Boy Scout "activity" or as previously, perhaps unoificially termed,
"Class B" uniform, has always been Scout pants/shorts and some sort of Scout
t-shirt; if anything, it is the Scout shirt which either needs to be modified
or an activity type shirt created.
and finally, the Scout pants/shorts w/ cargo pockets are the, in military
parlance, utilities - the rough and tumble wear; they have never been
expected to be "neat and sharp. On the other hand, there several other BSA
pants that are ideal for the "showroom floor" of the CoH etc (look in the
BSA catalog and see for your self)
I wouldn't know what to do w/o my cargo pockets or my Scout shorts
