Actually, Joe. I know of at least ONE industry where it is the norm. In the
publishing industry, the publisher gets 50% of the published list price
with the rest going to the wholesaler and retailer. . . ironically the
larger portion goes to the retailer who is permitted to return unsold
inventory back up the line. This is why you can get deep discounts on books
at places like WalMart, and discout book chains.
