Scouts-L Mail Archive for December of 1999: Tour permits
Sun, 19 Dec 1999 08:36:53 -0500
Our council (National Capitol Area Council) has recently published
a policy that reinforces the timing of the process for submitting local
permits for council approval. Previously, for as long as I have been
in the council, even though the directions on
the form stated it must be sent in two weeks in advance of the event,
they would accept and process applications as late as the day
before the trip. Now they formally require they get the form at least
two weeks in advance.
I have a big problem with getting the form in two weeks ahead. We
never have final decisions by scouts, and, more importantly leaders,
drivers, until very close to the trip. This leads me to the question,
what is the purpose of the form? What is the downside of not having
the permit signed by council before the trip?
Thanx in advance,
