I am familiar with the Knobstone trail through Southern Indiana. A very good
trail. You can obtain a map from the Clark County Forest. Only drawback, it
is a straight line, so pickup must be arranged. Also there is no potable
water along its length.
Red River Gorge is absolutely beautiful.. It is used a great deal.
Especially by people from Ohio. They tell tales of the Ohioans falling off
the cliffs chasing their tp. It is a very dangerous area in parts. There
are cliffs, which are good for rock climbing and hence falling off. There is
a rock climbing outfitter that leads scout groups on climbing expedition to
the Gorge. He is a COPE instructor, so he is BSA certified also.
Both great places to get away from the city.
