As Michael Derleth stated, garbage bags are great, inexpensive and have
a lot of utility. The drawback with garbage bags is that they don't
hide nearly as much stuff.
Vestibules have a lot more utility. They allow a convenient place for
those cookie crumbs to reside without getting all that sugar on the
floor of the tent. They also provide a sheltered and convenient place
for Mr. Mouse, wife and family to dine while eating the cookie crumbs.
Usually, they invite P.V. to dine with them. They can just slip in and
out by day and night. However, P.V. usually shows up unexpectedly at
night as he cannot resist the smell of his favorite food. P.V. loves the
shade of vestibules in the day and welcomes the free shelter at night,
especially after consuming his daily fill. Accordingly, vestibules can
give a whole new meaning to the Outdoor Code.
It's always a good idea to make sure those heavy duty zippers are closed
very tightly on all the Scouts' tents with vestibules. Adult zippers
are always fully closed and you don't need to be concerned about these.
Best wishes for the holidays.
