I just subscribed to SCOUTS-L and per the suggestion here is a brief bio.
In September, I started my 50th year in Scouting. I am a retread engineer.
I have been a Committee Member, Acting Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster,
and Cubmaster. I am currently on District staff in the Advancement Committee
and Merit Badge Counselor Chairman and teach a training course for MB
Counselors which I prepared. I have a canned program either in Power Point
or with about 49 color overheads and a 26-page hand out which covers
everything BSA has to say about MB Counselors. I just taught this course in
our University of Scouting. I am also a Unit Commissioner. Is the last few
years, I have run four Camporees/Klondike Derbies for our District. One of
my former employers loaned me to a German company and I lived near Heidelberg
for 4 1/2 years and was active in the TransAtlantic Council (TAC). In 1985,
I was TACs Jamboree Chairman and brought the TAC contingent over to the
National Jamboree. I currently belong to the Blue Ridge Mountains Council
and we have a 16,000 acre plus Scout Reservation In the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We run several high adventure programs in parallel continuously during the
summer and host about 8,000 Scouts at the reservation each summer. In
college, I belonged to the EM chapter of APO. I have two sons--one received
his Eagle in the Pittsburgh area and the other just completed his Eagle
requirements and is waiting for his BOR.
Yours in Scouting,
