What's good, What's bad, Who knows?

After all of the post on "Correct BSA thing to do", "You can't do it that
way", "It is not building good morals", "He said #@$# and because of that he
is not a good Scouter", "Two deep leadership is not needed or it is needed
or only when" I started to go into deep thought (almost fell asleep) about
what I am seeing posted on our list (Yes I Said Our List). Are we from
Earth, Venus or Mars. I think that we have come from the three planets for
one purpose to confuse the point of scouting. From many of the topics on
Scouts-L lately it sounds and looks like we don't have a clue about
WAKE-UP PEOPLE!! We are choking on gnats and straining on camels. Read the
BSA books and pamphlets and put it to practical use but with common since.
Get your self's trained and get involved in a Pack, Troop or other scouting
unit. Don't sit back and quote policy to the scouting leaders in your unit
if you are not actively helping and going on a very large percent of all
Granted you might not like the choice of activities that have been chosen,
but you don't need to spoil it for everyone because you think that it might
be a waist of time and energy, and it is not teaching "Scouting Skills".
Not all activities are proper, and I don't play poker a church either but we
need to be constructive and not try to tear down scouting with all of are
so called rules and regulations and opinions. Oh how I hate opinions.
Yes we do need rules and regulations, but we do not need to burden our youth
with them. God, your God and My God gave most of us a brain to use and a
logic to reason with but we seldom use it. So the next time a question is
asked about playing laser tag, or radios in camp or on a bus, Holding back
BOR's, OA elections veto's, and the list could go on. Stop and think about
what you are asking and if it can help or answer one the following then most
likely it is a good question: 1. How is this going to help out Scouts? 2.
Is this dangerous, could someone get hurt physically or mentally? 3. Are we
going against or adding to the scouting requirements, policy and or
I am sorry if this offends some and I am sure it will, it is not meant to.
But rather I hope and pray that it might shed some light on the some past
subjects and how silly many have been.
Save your flames, as I will be out of town for a few days and will be going
no mail tonight.
