Webelos Outdoor Wisdom (WOW)

Probably the biggest problem in our district is not bridging all of the
Webelos into boy scouting. And I'm sure that this is a major problem across
the United States. In our district, there are many reasons for this. Here
are a couple: the troops do not recruit these Webelos, the parents are not
informed, etc., etc., etc.
What our district is going to try and do this spring is what we have called
"Webelos Outdoor Wisdom (WOW)".
What we are planning is for each troop to provide hands-on demonstrations
for Webelos and their parents in regards to getting these folks prepared for
camping. Each troop will have 30-45 minutes. This will be done on a Saturday
(4-5 hours). These are some of the demos we were thinking of:
1) Camp First Aid
2) Camp Safety & Etiquette
3) How to pitch a tent
4) What to pack
5) Camp cooking
The purpose of this post is not to discuss the problems with Webelos - Scout
transition. What I am looking for is if any other district has done
something similar to this. What works and what doesn't?
