"This sucks" has a connotation that is very suggestive. "That stinks"
also has vulgar connotations, although it isn't quite as suggestive as
"this sucks". We discourage use of either in our Scout meetings.
BTW, when Scouts use vulgar or inappropriate language, don't assume they
know what they are saying. They often haven't a clue. We once had a
Scout use a totally inappropriate term - several times in a few minutes.
Conferring with the Scout, we learned he was greatly mistaken about the
meaning of the word. After the meaning was clarified, usage immediately
On to the district name... My district split in September. We had a
contest to name the new district. Any Scout could submit a name. From
those submitted, RT chose Bullskin Trail District, named for the Indian
trail which bisected our county. RT sent it up to the district
committee who isn't thrilled with that name, because they think it is
too subject to corruption by boys. However, the district committee is
leaving the final decision to RT. What is the wisdom of this group?
