I'm not sure today's metal containers COULD be used that way. Remember
with all the advances in metallurgy (sp?) they can design a container to
do just what they need it for -- and no more. Crisco cans used to be all
metal so you could hold them over the burner and get an extra 1/4 C of
Crisco out; now most of them have metal tops and bottoms but paper
inbetween, and I just finished a can of Wesson? maybe that was all plastic.
Better buy some Altoids or beg the container off someone who did, and
TRY it first. If you can't melt butter in it at home, it won't boil water
out doors in an emergency. (g)
