Managing Your E-mail Software

Nancy made a good point in an earlier discussion that Scouters who are new
to computing may have difficulty knowing how to set their software to do
plain text and not send html or mime encoded messages to the list.
It might be helpful to have a place to turn where there are directions on
how to set popular programs to plain text; e.g., Outlook, Eudora, AOL Mail,
and so forth. I am willing to build web pages with directions for each
program on how to prepare your e-mail program to use with e-mail discussion
groups. However, each program has its own complexities and the directions
for each one are going to be different. I am by no means an expert in all
these programs and so would ask for experienced fellow list-members to send
instructions for their favorite programs to me. If I get responses for most
of the e-mail programs out there, I will build a set of pages and announce
their location via the list. These pages then can serve as a reference
point for future use.
