Here's a question for you cooks out there on the list. I have be working with
the new scouts on requirement 4A for first class. I am giving them a work sheet
and copies of cookbooks in which they are to find a recipe and plan the meals
and shopping list accordingly. A number of boys have come to me and asked how
they figure out how many people a recipe will feed when there is no indication
in the recipe. I am stumped. It is easy for single portion items like pasta,
hamburger, oatmeal, but when you get into a complex meal like a stew or chili or
a casserole that has multiple ingredient that all breaks down in my eyes. My
question is, how do you figure it out. From the amount of meat, starch, other
component or the whole shootin match added together.
What say yee mighty list.
