Back in late August, we had a discussion dealing with the National Eagle
Scout Association (NESA) and how we as Scouters can support and extend this
organization. At that time, I stated that one of my "whiteboard projects"
was to create a page which explains the history and current issues facing
The discussion started over at Arrow-L and was moved here.
Well, hours before I go on vacation for a week and a half (a promised cruise
trip with my wife), I have posted the NESA information as part of a planned
upgrade to the EagleTips(tm) area of The Tree.
You are welcome to post me privately at my AOL account, although I won't be
able to directly answer right away; additionally, since this discussion was
moved over to here on Scouts-L, I offer it as an update to our previous
discussion on the topic.
The URL is temporary; after the first of the new year, everything in that
directory will be moved to The Shade of the Tree, the new home of the
EagleTips(tm) and some other archived and reflective information.
For now, you can find the NESA information (not complete; I'm missing a page
which shows the NESA ribbon pin and discussion on the Distinguished Eagle
Scout Award complete with a new DESA application (when it's sent to me) ),
discussion on Mr. Gates' new approach to the NESA, and my comments.
Also missing are some general questions similar to the one Henry asked
earlier today dealing with how to reach the NESA and how to "do some
research on finding Eagles." I've got that page together, gang...but it's
pushing on 3am CT and I've got to get some rest before I pack up and take
the trip with my honies in the day today.
Bob Amick provided some great information on the Knights of Dumanis, which
are the forerunners of the NESA....I want to thank him again for those
comments and I've included them within the posting as well as some questions
and answers previously posted here on Scouts-L, to which again I thank all
of you for your questions and comments!
