I know of nothing that says you can't go further than
the minimum required for YP. Whether or not the BSA
policy and/or YP Guidelines require two-deep
leadership for everything that happens in Scouting,
the individual unit, in my opinion, should require it
for these two reasons.
1. The boys are better protected.
The sad fact is, there are adults whom seem oh
so very nice and honorable, but are not. A terrible
matter in my own state two years ago & the 20/20
story about the man in Arkansas who formed his
own 'elite' group (after BSA bounced him out)
so he could continue being a predator illustrate
this all too well.
2. The adults are better protected.
The sad fact is, there are people who will make
allegations, and any allegation, even a clearly
demonstrable false allegation, will leave a long
lasting and dark stain on the reputation of a
Two deep is too important to quibble over. Give your
boys and your leaders more protection than the minimum
