Count your blessings. You have just learned the true value of most District
Executives. In my tenure of over 35 years in Scouting, I can count on one
hand the truly helpful Executives. The rest have all been too self-serving to
be of any use at all.
I do truly recognize the value of a good Executive; the problem is that they
are few and far between. If you have been without for such an extended period
of time, you have the luxury of perhaps finding one that will best fit your
District. Meanwhile, your Council is saving the extra payroll expense (that
should count towards your District's FOS goal. LOL)
If your District can manage without one, then it says to me that your
District is strong. My District is currently without a DE; thankfully the
latest dweeb just resigned! Maybe our next one will take the ideals of
Scouting seriously. I doubt it, but then hope springs eternal.
