An Indian day in History Nov 29 1864
The Sand Creek Massacre, in which the US Army sent soldiers
into an indian encampment, killing 300 indians. The Cheyenne
and Arapaho had been given an American flag to prevent such an
event from occurring, but an army colonel chose to disregard it.
Scouters as well as OA members teach indian lore. We should always find a
place to include a little bit of history so as to teach the youth what not to
repeat. Mao said "To know where you are going, you must know from where you
came." I think Mao borrowed this from Greek or Latin, but it may have been
originally been Chinese, Mao never gave the footnotes.
