You know, I agree whole heartedly that animals should not be killed for the
joy of killing. Just to be hunted down for the sheer joy of hunting.
There is a line that must be crossed though and children need to be taught
how to kill and clean their own FOOD. What if (God forbid) something should
happen to our world where they have to do it. Not want to do it. BUT HAVE
TO DO IT. Do these same people not go fishing or eat a hamburger or bacon?
You know if they don't that's wonderful for them. But these people that
spout all of this stuff out need to think about things in the long run.
My boys and scouts, most of them have gone hunting, most of them could dress
out a fish or anything else if need be. NO I HAVEN'T BEEN TEACHING THEM
THIS. Their parents, grandparents, uncles, friends do. We live in a very
rural area. Everyone hunts here. But if I had would that really be so
wrong. To teach them how to survive for themselves? I guess next we are
gonna have vegetables and fruits with feelings, so we can't eat them! lol : )
(Saw that on a tv show the other day!)
I do remember as a Webelos leader we caught our own fish for supper and yes
we skinned them and gutted(gross) them and fried them. BUT THAT WAS OUR
FOOD. I didn't make a big deal out of showing them how to do it. I just
showed them the process. (And yes women can do it to!) Beat hot dogs for
supper which was what was planned, but when they started catching all of
these big fish, THEY decided they wanted to eat them, we had the resources,
so we did! BTW, what we didn't eat we released!
