I am the guilty party to "I'm going to give up". I had a change of plans.
I'm not giving up just hanging on and moving up. I made a plan.
I have to stick with my den, four boys, this year. Now, next year things
change. We are going to merge with a now Bear den of eight boys. This will
give us a combined Webelos den of twelve boys (families), a den leader and
two assistant leaders all trained. I an going to assist when needed, as the
third party. I figure two patrols of six, my son and my assistants son,
Second year by then will go with the Den leaders patrol and my other two
second years with my now assistant in a second patrol.
I would like to keep track of den advancement. Oh, did I mention, I am going
to be the Committee Chairperson for the next six years until my youngest son
gets through ranks. This should be enough to keep me busy.
Non of this years Webelos 2 would merge for the remainder of the year.
All of my scouts should have their Webelos badge by January, so I will have
them presented in Februaury at B&G. We are going to work on the Craftsman
through the winter to keep the boys busy. Every third Saturday we can go to
Home Depot for a free wood shop (outings!) I would also like to take them
Ice skating (more outings). In DEcember we are going to NYC to the top of the
World Trade Center.(traveler badge!!) We have a Klondike Derby in January
(outside again!!) February is reserved for power tools. March is an indoor
sleepover for the pack, and more craft time (artist badge!) As you can see
I have completely over hauled our meetings and we will no longer be meeting
at the Library where it will now be quiet.
I would like to thank everyone who sent me their thoughts. It really
helped me to keep up my spirits and keep going. I am still not there with my
own son yet but we are working on it. There is no other Webelos 1 dens to
send him to, we are the only one. I have noone else to watch him or send him
home to. So, we are going to have to live with each other. I think we'll
I'll keep you up to date of major accomplishments.
Thanks again to all,
Sharon Hill - Webelos 1 leader
