<1. Your thoughts on kids being able to complete what ever badge is
for our clinic.
2. Any information out there for statistics on what percentage Scouts do go
complete partial merit badge work?>
I think those partials are so pesky... yes, they bother me too!! Sometimes
I feel that with a little better planning the mb could have been completed at
Our troop has a pretty good percentage of completion. (I don't have exact
figures, but this is how we do it.) We have 2 advancement Moms, one for Rank
and one for mb. The Mom that is in charge of mb tracking keeps a spread sheet
on partials. Before a Scout can work on a mb, he must get approval
(Signature from the SM.)
1. The Scout checks with the mb Mom to see how
he has going.
2. Before the SM. approves the new mb, the SM
partials with the boy. Usually he tells them to
finish current mb's
before they start on new ones.
(this part is rather subjective because the SM
has to take into
account what he perceives of the ability of a
Scout to work on more
than one or two things at the same time).
3. The boy returns to th mb Mom and lets her know
that the SM has
approved him to work on the badge.
4. Then as the boys work on mb's they show the mb
from the mb councilor. (She also keeps track of
our troop mb
5. Periodically the mb Mom will remind a boy what
he has left to do
with a certain mb.
Before we started this we had a few boys with 8 or 9 of these type badges.
AND some of these were from mb college 3 -4 years ago!!!
Did I mention that the mb Mom is an accountant? I'm sure it helps :)
