I currently have a discussion going with a friend on the subject of
partials (partly completed merit badges) rleative to merit badge clinics.
he feels strongly that the Scout should be able to complete the work
required to earn the badge during the clinic time frame. in our case, we
are providing 3 weeks for the clinic to run its course. he maintains,
perhaps rightly to some degree, that to get the kid started on something he
cannot finish during the clinic is setting kid up to "fail" and that most
kids never complete partials they get started.
1. your thoughts on kids being able to complete what ever badge is offered
for our clinic.
2. any information out there for statistics on what % Scouts do go back and
complete partial merit badge work?
