Once again I need to tap the wisdom of the list. What material would
you recommend for sock liners for general, all-purpose hiking, mostly in
warm climates? The choices I've seen so far are polypropylene,
Thermax<tm> polyester, silk, and Thermastat<tm> polyester. (I suspect
the Thermastat may be a newer version of the Thermax.) The prices are
all the same for everything except silk, which is a little higher. The
hiking socks we have are the Thorlo light trekking socks. We may be
working our way up to a 50-miler (two 25-mile legs) by March, but other
than that, most hikes will probably be in the 5-10-mile range.
Anything else you need to know to answer my question? Please reply
privately so as not to burden the list unless you're convinced your
answer will benefit and be of interest to the entire list.
