Yes, there can be some disadvantages.. and this is not intended as a
flame or even boisterous argument.. but.. we cant change the rules. If
we turn a boy down from our troop because of age, he will go to another
Troop or plain go elsewhere.
My youngist son is one of those early ones.. he turned 10 in Sept and
will be crossing over into the Troop officially next month. He has been
hanging out with his older brother in the Troop since early summer and
has allready been accepted by the boys there. He knows it isnt going
to be easy being the youngist but he wants to try.. and I have to let him
rather than discourage him.. Otherwise he would be lost to Scouting
completely.. and given the alternative, I would rather see him keep with
