Our family used to be a part of the York-Adams Area Council where Gettysburg
is located. We did the Gettysburg Hikes and Patch. We divided ours into
three weekends, as we lived in York, PA about 30 miles to the east. The
first trip we did the Tour of the Cemetery, visitors center and President
Eisenhower's farm. The second was the shorter hike and the third the longer
The Council has two camping areas where reservations can be made. Camp
Tuckahoe is the summer camp near Dillsburg (?) and a second one (don't
remember the name) that is smaller and closer to Gettysburg. We've been out
of the area for five years so my mind is a little fuzzy.
York also has some nice Scout activities. There is a historical trail the
scouts can walk. And a geology trail through downtown that is easily done.
