Mike, you have a definite situation here. I would have to agree with the
other Mike in that this is teaching the boys it is okay to cheat. But
the bigger problem is that when these boys enter Boy Scouts they will
expect to have all their advancements handed to them. When this doesn't
happen, they will get upset and quit the troop, losing out on a valuable
As for the leader, if he moves up with the boys and does this in the
troop, he could hurt the entire unit but more specifically hurt any boy
he did this for when he starts with leadership positions and possibly
with an Eagle candidate if any requirements or MB's were singed off by
this person if the Eagle BOR people get wind of this.
My guess is that he has not been properly trained. IMO he should be told
what he is doing wrong, whether he likes it or not.If he refuses to
comply, the committee and the IH need to ask hie to leave. If you run
