I am posting this to the list as another plug for adult leader training. I
see many questions come up here that are covered in amazing detail in one or
more of the publications the BSA puts out. When you go for training and
Roundtables you find out about these. Going to the source can save time and
problems because you can do it right the first time.
This fall I have been involved , as an instructor, in Basic Cub Scout Leader
Training, Basic Boy Scout Leader Training, and OWL training. I have also
taken the Train the Trainers session (awesome), and participated in our
councils Commisioners Conference. (did Wood Badge last spring) (OK so my
lawn is still covered with leaves and my pool is not closed up for the
winter. You need to get the priorities straight here. )
The more I see and hear the more I appreciate what the BSA has put together.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. There are new versions of most publications and they
are better than ever. You may not end up with 8 feet of notebooks and
handbooks but get the ones that will help you in your position. Then go for
training. A trained leader is a better leader.
Deliver the promise! Get Trained! Go to Roundtable!
