My story is similar, although I had no thoughts of volunteering. War is
horrible and generally wrong. I guess that one side, or the other, is
almost always wrong. Sometimes both sides are wrong. I think that what
our country did in Vietnam was wrong. I do not disparage those who so
honorably served there. They should not disparage those who legally avoided
I might add though that there are wars which I could conceive of
volunteering to fight. Roman, your Father's war was one of them.
(I saw Saving Private Ryan Sunday Night on HBO. It made me cry.)
