To all who helped,
Thanks for the support. The best part is that I know that I am not
alone. I recieved alot of insight and really appreciate all your help.
Maybe I am taking this too hard. I am not the "Parent of the Year", nor am
I even trying to get there. Instead of looking at this as quitting, I
decided that I am just 'moving on and up'. I told our Committee chairman
that I would definitely take over for the next seven years until my youngest
son gets to Boy Scouts. Or at least until they decide not to stay with
scouting, which I hope will not happen. I am also looking into the idea of
having a Webelos den with both first and second year scouts together. Our
pack has never done this but maybe it is time for a change, at least until
our larger lower rank dens move up. I definitely have a Bear den who will
gladly have my four scouts for next season. This new den, if all stay in,
will have 12 boys, 1 leader, and two assistant leaders (all trained). I
think this makes good for patrols. As far as this year goes I hope to get
one of our now Webelos 2 dens to welcome us. Three of my four will have
their Webelos badge for December so will not be too far behind in their
If by some chance we cannot join in with another den, I am looking for
a different meeting place. I may change our meeting schedule to two hours
every other week. After school seems to be the best for our families right
now, so we will take it slow for awhile and see how it works out. Our
sponsor organization is the K of C, maybe they will let us use the building.
We did start in my basement but the boys were too distracted with other toys
and such around the house and in a rush to get them after the meeting. The
library came about because most of the boys walk there right after school to
For January we will be working on the Klondike Derby sled so we can us the
AL garage and tools.
I really do not have consistant den meeting plan so I will do that too.
I did like the idea of the Scout Bucks as rewards and the fun of getting to
spend them. That seems great as instant recognition and the responsibility
of saving and not losing them.
I will keep everyone up to date THANKS AGAIN, ALOT!!!!!
I hope meet some of you face to face one day at a scout function
