I'm seeing first-hand just how important it is that the leaders be
trained in outdoor skills. We're in a brand-new troop with only a
handful of Scouts, none of whom have much outdoor experience.
Furthermore, most of the other adults are coming over from Cubs and I'm
pretty new, so our outdoor skills aren't what they should be, either.
As a result, we're having to borrow people from other troops who can
come teach us all some of these skills. We're getting it done and we
adults are learning as fast as we can, but it would be far easier if at
least one adult in our troop were proficient in each of the necessary
