???? What about "capture the flag" then ?
Or even dodge ball ?
Capture the flag is a true game of tag. No simulated weapons are used
and no one is "killed." The same is true for dodge ball. IMHO there is
a significant difference. My troop plays both games and enjoys them.
I grew up as a rifle and pistol shooter. My dad was a member of our
town's Police Auxiliary, a member of the Police Pistol Team, and a Life
Member of the NRA. I can remember getting up on Saturday mornings with
my 22 Remington rifle in a scabbard and riding my bike to the next town
to shoot on the junior rifle team.
One thing always stood out in my memory -- the rule that my father
taught me that I could not even point a toy weapon at any person or
animal. That is what I learned in the many Junior NRA courses I
attended and that is what I teach my children today.
