Sorry if I cross posted, I hit the wrong list prompt first, it was meant
I attended the funeral of a friend's daughter today. It was sad as today
would have been her 17th birthday, she died of an incurable type of bone
cancer. I think of how my wife and I brought 5 kids into this world and how
tough it would be to bury any one of them.
They closed the funeral service with a nice ceremony. A local veteran made a
statement of how soldiers are awarded for bravery as they fight in battles.
He pointed out that she had faught every day in the battle with her cancer
and what a battle that was. He gave his Silver Star, awarded to him for
bravery, to the parents in honor of the young lady. It was very moving to
say the least.
Here's to all the kids who fight their battles every day.
