I wanted to share this.......
My son loves Scouts, but unfortunately isn't too thrilled about School. This
year he asked to go to the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX. We
decided that it might be the best thing for him.
During Phlebe (mini bootcamp) I kept getting these letters from him
saying...."this is great...its just like Boy Scouts". He said that they hike
alot, which was easy considering all the hikes, especially the 20 miles he
did for the hiking merit badge. They had a competition amongs cadets to set
up and take down wall tents and tie the correct knots... no problem, he said.
He likes wearing the uniforms and especially the camoflauge.
To make a long story short.... he is doing great. He tries real hard in
school, and the grades are great. He likes the teachers and his drill
instructor (which is also a Scout Leader). He got promoted real fast to the
first rank, which absolutely thrilled him. He likes rank advancement, just
like in Scouts.
He can come home on weekends since we live close to the school, but if there
is a Scout campout, he wants to go and help teach cadets Scouting skills.
I hate to think about how it might have been without scouting.......Thank you
.....a good ole Bobwhite.....
