I wasn't going to get in on this thread, but what the hey...
My father, Orrin M. Peterson, served aboard the USS Sea Robin during
the Korean War.
Prior to him we don't have much record of veterans in our family,
until you get back to the colonial days.
My great, great, great, great, great grandfather, Abner Fuller, served
under Capt. John Chester, Esq. of Weathersford, Connetticut. He joined
the 9th Company, Continental Regiment on May 12, 1775 and was reported
missing following the Battle of Long Island. He died a prisoner of war
on board a British prison ship on August 29, 1776.
Another great, great, great, great, great grandfather, Samuel Ward,
enlisted in 1776 and served in the New York Campaign.
A great, great, great, great grandfather, Samuel Frothingham, enlisted
in the Leavenworth Company in 1778 and served under Capt. Joseph
Churchill until 1781.
