A couple readers responded that there was a poem/song called Trustworthy
Tommy that has been used to make learning the Scout law fun. I found it in
the Scouts-L archive for December 1997:
Sing to the tune of Yankee Doodle
Trustyworthy Tommy was a Scout,
Loyal to his Mother,
Helpful to the folks about and
Freindly to his brothers.
Couteous to a girl he knew,
Kind unto hid rabbits
Obedient to hid father, too and
Cheerful in his habit.
Thrifty saving for a need
Brave and not a faker
Clean in word and thought and deed and
Reverent to his Maker
You can find an amazing rendition of Yankee Doodle Dandy at
The internet is an amazing place - thanks for the responses.
