<in talking about this topic with a leader from another unit, we were
<pretty well together until he suggested that some boys may "be too shy"
<to go make contact with an adult they do not already know.
Yes, I agree with this other leader.
YET, This is one of the areas that the parents or the adult leaders
of the troop can help a young man grow with needed confidence.
OftenTimes Troop adults will think that this is ONLY the boy's
responsibility rather than a JOINT one that includes the adults.
As for "too shy" YES and it goes in cycles as they grow yet if we
read those "Aims of Scouting" and parts of the SM Handbook we are
supposed to help the "overly agressive" "just perfect" "bothers"
to the totally passive into being better by using this BSA scout
program. So I figure "too shy" just needs a bit more partnering.
