I agree with Mark Arend, I don't particularly want to know the
Scouts' preferences re: undergarments, but, like most topics I do
have some opinions. A couple based on personal experience.
I once thought it a good idea to take my oldest briefs on a 5 day
backpacking trek. Bad idea. Take it from me you want the elastic
around the legs to be in good condition. I learned the value of
quality undergarments. A few days of treatment with A & D ointment
and wearing nylon boxers (actually Umbro soccer shorts) next to my
chafed hide cleared up the problem before we got off the trail.
They say "cotton kills." Certainly cotton briefs can kill your
Lately I prefer to take boxers to camp. I feel it would give me a
more modest appearance should I have to evacuate my tent in the
middle of the night due to a skunk attack.
