Working on CSBLT I hear this all the time and I try to point out that
it MAY be our expectation of our son's behavior instead of his ACTUAL
behavior that is the problem! I know for a fact that I expect better
behavior from my son than the other boys, even though I "know" this
isn't fair. How many times have you said to your son "you have to set
an example..."? I know I have said this and then been disappointed
when my son acted no worse (better?) than some of the other guys.
We have to cut or own kids the same amount of slack that we cut the
other boys and even though we will always be more critical of our own
sons we shouldn't "punish" them for just being boys.
