Thanks to all of you who responded to my dilemma regarding my son's wish to
discontinue his scouting activities and have me one on one. I failed to
mention earlier that I share custody of him 50/50 with my ex-wife and
therefore don't see him every day as it is.
In this situation I have decided to listen to his needs for a number of
reasons to lengthy to go into here. Just so happens that one of my ASM's
who has 61 year of scouting behind him has volunteered to be SM. The boys
will get a great leader and my son get's what he asked for.
Some times you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at
An old Quaker friend of mine once told me that whenever it looks like
someone is loosing in a situation it's because people aren't listening to
each other. He told me that if we all just listen a little more to that
little voice inside us and others we'd all find more peace in the world. I
have often found listening to my son to be the hardest of all.
Thanks again for all of your thoughtful words.
