Well how about a local troop that OWNED its own camp ? With
buildings etc. When the troop disbanded the church took over,
since the TAX exempt status of the land and building was
related to the tax status of the church - or Charter Org.
(now used by a youth ministry COED program at the church!)
Much of the tents and equipment went with the individual scouts
and to a NEW troop - IF they joined one. There was also some
"claimed" by leaders and the Scout Master - that some of the stuff
was THEIRS that they allowed the scouts to use - We have recently
heard that same story on scouts-l as well!
Since I doubt MOST troops really maintain any real accurate
property inventory (is it required) - how to do really
establish the "ownership". ?
Should troops have a formal property record?
