Scouts-L Mail Archive for September of 1999: Patrol Flags
Fri, 3 Sep 1999 08:12:02 -0700
One of the requirements at summer camp was to have the patrols and troop
inspected with their patrol flags. Since they didn't have any before, I
brought blank cloth, markers, felt scraps, glue, and tape to camp in my
supplies. During the after-lunch period on Sunday, we made flags.
The only rule for the activity was that they had to do it in SILENCE. They
could communicate all they wanted with writing and pointing and signs, but no
sound. Made a great team-building activity, kept arguments to a minimum, and
let the ears rest. The adults also made their own flag--the four of us were
the "Potbellies", with stove and coffee on our flag.
