Several months ago we were talking about the need for a really great online
resource really targeted at new Cub Scout leaders that would offer training
and more. Many wonderful and dedicated Scouters (and members of the
Scouts-L family) responded that they were willing to help out.
In the last month the group has been carefully figuring out what kinds of
information to include, how to organize information, and all the the things
it takes to build a great website. Now work has started in earnest on
developing content. This new site won't be ready to open for awhile yet,
but work is progressing. When it does open, it will operate on the USSSP
server with the address www.cubmaster.com and will feature lots of training
and help for new leaders. In addition, the site will have a companion
e-mail list called Cub-L where experienced Cub Scout leaders and trainers
will be available to answer questions.
This new website may well even be an event to mark down in Scouting's
history. It will be one of the first ever sites to be developed by a large
group of people who have never met as a group and who know each other
primarily through e-mail. This takes a huge amount of extra effort and
