No Friday night camping during the fall

Our Troop has found a way of getting around the Football Season as many
others have. During the months of August, September, October (Except
Camporee Weekend) and November we only have campouts over Saturday night.
This allows are scouts to participate in school activities and scouts. Is
this perfect no, but it gives them a chance to do it. As for the Camporee
weekend we will allow scouts to come in before 9:00 AM, their tents will
have already been set up by our service patrol so all they need to do is put
their gear away and have fun.
Now I have a problem! Just found out Monday that my sons Band Director at
school wants to have a all day practice on the Saturday of our Camporee.
This is not a large band it only has about 30 members (It is a show band),
but I know of 8 scouts from 3 troops that are members of the band, and 6 of
them make up the entire Trombone section!. They already practice after
school till 5PM 3 days a week and from 7:00-8:45PM one night a week and they
have a game that they are at school from 6 PM to 11 PM every Friday. I am
to the point of contacting the parents of the other scouts and seeing if
they will all join together and approach the Director as a group. And yes
they loose a half of a grade point for every practice and game they miss
with out a letter from the doctor that has been notarized and recorded in
the county court house! HA, HA!
