>Does anyone know of any mailing list's specific to Cub Scouts or Wolf Den's?
I read Sam's post with concern. In the past years about this time, Scouts_L was
busy with questions like "what's the best way to recruit Cubs", "How do you guys
do Cub Rally Night?" or How do your packs work with Tigers?"
I was drawn to Scouts_L while I was a Cubmaster because there was so much help
and information from the experience on this list. Scouts_L that made our good
program great. Scouts_L help me understand better why Cub Scouts is important,
it help make my job as a Cub Leaders easier, but most important Scouts_L made it
FUN. And when the adults have fun, the boys have FUN.
Not sure why, but I have been watching the Cub traffic decrease the last few
months. I expected it to pick up about now but it's not. I encourage all Cub
leaders to ask questions and seek help. There are so many folks here that have
great ideas to help your program. And the Cub program is so important to the
whole Scouting program because about 95% of the Boy Scouts came from the Cub
Scouts. On average only about 50% of the Cub Scout cross over into the Boys
Scouts so there is an important reason to help Cub leaders the best we can.
I am not sure why the decrease in traffic Sam, maybe the subjects have been to
serious or to directed towards the Troops or even boring to Cub leaders. I hope
it's not some negative behavior that scares many folks away. But I encourage you
and all Cub leaders to ask questions so we can continue the Cub Scout
discussions. I enjoy reflecting back on my Cub Scouting experience and look for
the opportunity to pass on some experience. I also enjoy passing on new ideas to
my friends. There is all kinds of wonderful places to get help for the Cub
program, but Scouts_L is one of the best.
Have I told you about how we started a tradition of fishing and all-you-can-eat
pancakes for our Tigers every September. Well, maybe I better not get started. I
love this Scouting Stuff.
