I confess to the sin of lust for backpacking gear :-0
I have the Apex II and it's a great stove but I seldom carry
it on trips of less than 3 days. I got a Gaz Turbo stove
that uses the butane/propane canisters. It was $20 on sale
at the Sports Authority. I find it perfect for weekend
trips, no pumping, no spilled fuel in the pack. I can get 2
weekends from a canister.
If I had to do it all over again (and I might have to force
myself to do it all over again ;-)), I'd look at the Primus
expedition stove which seems to cover all of the options
with a choice of liquid fuel or butane cartridge.
Has anybody tried the Primus Expedition stove yet?
