I have not found the answer. Parents such as these are putting sports
(which can also be beneficial) ahead of a program that affords the kids
real enjoyment while teaching them life skills. Most times one or both of
the parents are harboring hopes that the kid will go on to stardom in high
school and then possibly college and maybe even the pros. The sad fact is
that most of these kids will not make the cut to get on the highly
competitive school teams and at that point sports are dropped and the kid
drifts because he is no longer involved in anything. I know and you know
how important Scouting is but I guess the real question is how can we do a
better job of educating the public about our program or more specifically,
the boys' program.
