Valley Forge Info - Thank you
Mon, 16 Aug 1999 13:33:45 -0400
I want to thank all of you who replied to my request for information about
Valley Forge. I had so many responses that I am sending this to the list
so that I won't leave anybody out.
We did spend one day of our vacation at Valley Forge. We stopped off at
the Cradle of Liberty Council but they were out of the Historic Trail books
but we were able to purchase some at the Visitors Center. Thanks to your
information our sons knew to bring their compass and a pen along.
We had a great day. Saw LOTS of deer mostly on the trails in the woods.
One of my sons actually walked right into a fawn while we walked one of the
un mowed fields.
One of you responded that good compass skills are a most. We found that to
be very true and our sons did an excellent job. It seemed that we were a
out in nowhere land a lot but as long as we came across whatever landmark
we were supposed to, we knew we were right on track. Someone remarked that
the trail was supposed to be 9 miles but felt like 12. That seemed true
too. After a while I started asking my sons how much is left in their
book. Someone said something about being in an area where a sign said keep
out. We saw that sign too but that was where to foot bridge was that we
were suppose to cross.
Thanks Again for the Information.
