How Split Popcorn Money?

Dear Fellow Scouters,
I would like to know how different Packs handle the 40% that the unit earns
from the Trail's End Popcorn fund drive.
We have been splitting the money 20% to the boys and 20% to the pack.
We used to keep track of the boys' money in the pack bank account but,
were "advised" that this is not a good idea. (And frankly, we agree for
several reasons.) Last year we gave the boys their commissions in the
form of gift certificates from the Council Scout Shop. This relieved the
pack of keeping track of the money and ensured (as much as this is
possible, anyway) that the money earned from a pack fund raiser
would be spent somehow on Scout stuff. And these gift certificates could
be used toward summer camps.
It's come to my attention that other units keep varying amounts of the
pack percentage all the way up to the entire 40%.
We have a committee meeting this week to discuss this area (along with
allllllllllllll the others for the new year). I would appreciate some input
from the members of the list. I'm looking for different ideas that work for
your units so I'll be armed with more options that we may pick and choose
from that will work for our pack's needs.
