Scouts-L Mail Archive for August of 1999: Skiing question

The Safe Guide to Scouting says about winter sports: "Direct supervision
should be maintained at all times by two or more adults when that Scouts
are 'in the field.' "
We've been considering getting season group rate tickets for our Cub
Scouts at the nearby ski hill (actually a mole hill - but it's in Ohio
<g>). If we take the Cubs skiing, does the above rule mean that two
adults must be with each group of boys on the hill at all times, i.e.
skiing down with them and riding the lift up with them, or does it mean
that two adults must be at the ski area?
Lest someone ask, even if the rule means "at the ski area", we wouldn't
let any boys on the slopes unless one adult were actually skiing with
them, i.e. within a few yards of them.
