NO Parents on Campouts!

We have NO Parents on Campouts, even my own child is parentless for the
We have NO Mommies or Daddies on Campouts.
We only have leaders on Campouts.
Many times I have seen parents wanting to have a "Bonding" weekend with
their child. This causes hardships for the other scouts and the other
leaders, the scouts all have assigned duties in their prospective patrol.
So if Mommy or Daddy wants a bonding experience with their child and takes
them away from their assigned duties it puts more work on the other scouts.
I am sure most of us have seen this.
As for putting hardship on the other adult leaders: Don't you just love it
when Mr. or Mrs. Parent just plants their posterior in a chair for the
weekend and only moves to Eat, Sleep and complain about the Latrine.
Sometimes I can't wait for one to ask what are we having for dinner, my
favorite reply is "What did you bring?".
Ok, I know I might be coming down hard on our scouts parents but, someone
gota do it!
I really do enjoy and love helping new scout parents become part of the
scouting family through training and service. Our Troop has been blessed
with a fantastic group of parents that are willing to help in any way they
can. We average about 4 to 6 new registered scouters a year, and all will
and do go through the Scoutmaster Fundamentals training, this in our Troops
