Just to add my 2 cents worth:
It seems fairly common for commercial operations to charter
career-oriented BSA units.
Back in the early 1980s, for example, in Big Rapids, Mich., WAAQ radio
chartered an Explorer post that focused on broadcasting. Later, Post
3102 moved to the town's other radio station, WBRN, where I was the news
director. I became the post advisor.
Later, I helped start posts focusing on journalism chartered by the
Midland (Mich) Daily News and the Huron Daily Tribune in Bad Axe, Mich.
This isn't limited to Explorers/Venturers. In Blanchard, Mich., a tiny
town in central Michigan, the Cub Scout pack is chartered by the local
lumber company. I don't know the story behind that -- but I'm pretty
sure the pack wouldn't exist without the "commercial" support.
